At a glance
- Client: AI developer platform (SaaS), name kept private
- Service: Digital PR and editorial link building
- Publication: Technology.org, with about 26.8K monthly US organic visits and 14.2K referring domains
- Placement type: Premium feature, written to editorial standard
- Went live: July 2026
The challenge
The client was launching an AI API product into one of the most crowded markets online. New SaaS brands face a double trust problem.
Developers don’t sign up for a tool they’ve never heard of. And Google is cautious with new domains that have no authoritative mentions behind them.
In July 2026 the site ranked for just 442 keywords in the US, and only 16 of them were on page one.
What we did
- Angle first. Instead of a generic press release, we built a launch story around a real developer pain point: managing several AI providers and their costs.
- Publication fit. We chose a technology site whose readers are the client’s buyers, so the link carries topical relevance as well as authority.
- Two links, two jobs. A branded link to the homepage builds the entity. A contextual link to a product page sends authority to the page that converts.
- Natural anchors. Brand name and plain URL only. No exact-match anchors that could look manipulative under Google’s link spam policies.
The results
| US organic (Semrush) | July 2026 | October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Total ranking keywords | 442 | 5,502 |
| Top-10 keywords | 16 | 207 |
| Top-3 keywords | 1 | 23 |
Organic visibility grew month on month after the placement went live. By October the site ranked for over 12 times as many keywords as in July.
An honest note on attribution
One article does not grow a site 12x on its own. The domain was also earning links from many other sources over the same period.
What a tier-1 placement does is give a new brand third-party credibility early, at the moment Google is deciding how far to trust it. That’s the job we were hired for, and it was delivered.
Why this matters for SaaS brands
For a new SaaS domain, a few relevant links on trusted publications usually do more than hundreds of low-quality directory links. Google’s helpful content guidance rewards trust and expertise, and authoritative mentions are part of how that trust is built.
